Chittister responds to the Sojo crowd

Some of you may have seen the CNN broadcast of the religion-and-moral-issues interview by Jim Wallis of Sojourners fame* with a few of the Democratic presidential candidates.

Here is a fine, fine critique by Benedictine sister Joan Chittister, who, as usual, gets the big picture and the depth dimension. Tell it, sister.

* a little too much fame -- anyone else getting deluged with too much Sojourners publicity and too many fund-raising appeals?

I haven't been keeping up with Wallis or Sojourners for a decade or so (I got God's Politics, but never read it).

Anything by Sr. Joan is cause for excitement, though; be back later.

As expected. Nice to find her weekly column: thanks.

Did y'all see Deirdre Good's account of the Religious Booksellers confab on her blog; it's a hoot!

I think I'll go back, come to think of it.

That's a terrific piece. There may come a moment when I push it out among the political types. Many are culturally unprepared to know what she is talking about, but some will resonate with it.

Do spread it around. The gaps in public conversation are wide, so even if this reaches a few folks, that's good.
