Yoga for dogs -- yes, this is for real

YogaDawg, the great satirist of yoga (also a serious yoga practitioner) whom I have mentioned here before, and who is currently writing a series on the various types of yoga studios, could have invented this one.

But it's for real.

Introducing... DOGA! I read it in Newsweek, so it must be true.

Online story here. (Mention of doga is toward the end of the story.) No photo in that online version. But the print version of Newsweek has a picture of people doing yoga with their dogs. And the online version has a link to dogadog.com. No, it's not a joke. At least, I don't think so.

Clumber, Dennis, MadPriest, and Padre Mickey -- go ahead, have a field day.

Oh, and other dog people, let's see: Grandmère Mimi, Simple Village Organist, Diane (though I don't think you're as given to satire and snark as the rest of the crowd), Wormwood's Doxy... I await your comments.

Cats, of course, don't need yoga classes. But, as usual, I digress. DOGA! THE NEW TREND! Work it.

FA Annie P. would insist Yoga was invented by careful observation of Cat, if she were to bother with explanations.

"Cats, of course, don't need yoga classes."

They don't?

Kristin, LOL. That's an unusual cat though, all the ones I know have been yoga teachers. You sure it's not part dog?

Nice find, Kristin!

Even more advanced Yogis, perhaps even the great Lawrence Peter Berra (Yogi's given names) himself, sometimes find themselves in a tough spot for lack of Cheezburger.

Satchel Pooch (on Get Fuzzy) has been practicing it, though currently he has a new fitness trainer. Bucky Katt offers no encouragement, of course.

I don't know, Jane, it doesn't look Siamese...

LOL, this thread is really fun.

It's the company we keep.

I was wondering how you got the dogs to stay in positions and move to positions, but I see that you do it for them. Just like a dog to want you to do everything for them.

Cats, on the other hand....

True, Mimi, though I confess that, on occasion, I wish FA would find it amusing to pretend to be more like a d-o-g.

I don't know that she doesn't check on my posts when I'm asleep--better to take no chances.

One of my now departed cats was working on a novel at night. Unfortunately he had it stashed away in a folder I was never able to find.

A double-digit thread, even if ya had to do it yourself: yea!

Champagne!

My dog is much too ADD for yoga (although she has shown me that "downward facing dog" is for real.)

As for yoga cats, who could forget this one.
