Yes, I know, it's called the Church
of England by name. But "in" is what I mean and besides, when I was doing a year-long tutorial in matters Anglican five years ago, the wonderful
Bill Countryman had me read John Moorman's
A History of the Church in England, among many other books.
(The piece of Bill's to which his name will link you is from three or four years ago, by the way.)
While this is about England, it will give you U.S. types a chuckle and a groan as well.
