Friday cat blogging: office help

I made her go to the store and fetch the pictures. This was the one I wanted you all to see. See how helpful I am in the study?

  1. There is a woman on the Klarinet (sic) list who posts under the name "Shadow Cat." All her postings begin "I am making my stupid pet human type this." She refers to her human playing something she calls the "Screetch Stick." Very funny stuff. Name available offline:-).

  2. My cats like to help me with papers in this way also...

and then...sometimes, they even eat them for me...

  3. Just remembered...in last week's New Yorker magazine, there was a cartoon depicting "the first and last Bring Your Cats To Work day." It showed a cubicle farm and cats in every one, walking on keyboards. Gee, that couldn't happen in real life, could it?...

  4. Oh, if only someone of the calibre of Miss Maya Pavlova lived with me and helped me with my work, I feel sure that I would finish my dissertation in no time! Life without cats is hard to sustain; thank goodness for Friday Cat Blogging. Much appreciation to the human for going to the store and fetching the pictures and posting them.

  6. I think cats are naturally suited to office work... cats and humans.

  7. Madame La Doyenne, Miss Maya did perform shredding duties immediately after this photo was taken. And possibly before. The photo-taker forgets (this was some weeks ago, I still have the old-fashioned kind of camera) but does remember having to stop photographing and start rescuing paper. But Miss Maya says "thanks for the remindeh. Always kin use moah shreddin lessons."

  8. Rowan, does this mean that dogs are not suited to office work? They are probably not -- running around engaging in tail-wagging is much more fun for them -- though I know some humans whose dogs sit in their study and sigh with them when they write. A particular Australian shepherd of my acquaintance used to do this.

Grandmère Mimi, she does type, but not in a way that contributes to her human's productivity. She has been known to walk on the laptop and also to focus on a particular key in her interactions with the keyboard, so this makes for interesting-looking non-figurative poetry, and in some cases a bunch of beeps when the computer says it doesn't like what is going on. This generally occurs in the middle of the human's composition of a document. Comments from the human and removal from the keyboard ensue.

Miss M.P. is currently at her perch here in the study, watching Kitty TV, aka the Bird and Squirrel Channel, in the late afternoon sun.

Her human things being a cat would be very nice right about now.
