The duck is stone, but the frog is real. ** Click to enlarge.
St. Francis thinks about it all.
Why is the stone bunny bigger than Francis?
In honor of the feast of St. Ignatius of Loyola, take a little time to slow down and contemplate the love of Godde and where the Spirit is leading you in your life.
Oh Jane, this is just what I needed. You know, I may have to find a local retreat center and take myself there one of these days...
ReplyDeletewonderful blackberries (the edible kind not the phone email kind)... soon in three weeks ours will start to ripen.
ReplyDeleteAfter an absolutely grueling week at the office (and loving every minute of it), these wonderful photographs were just what I needed this evening to bring me down from a simmer to complete chill. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteIt's gorgeous. I was in NYC yesterday and finally(!) noticed that Trinity Church on Broadway and Wall Street removed its labyrinth. It used to be a wonderful break from life in the City--you could forget where you were and shut out all the noise. Which I guess is one path among many toward God. All I can imagine is the grounds around Trinity were so damaged by 9/11 that some powers that be had to "triage" the grounds.
ReplyDeleteJane, is that rabbit a work of Bufano whose sculptures are in San Francisco? There's a house there near the Presidio with a dozen, St. Francis, a snail, wonderful stuff. I still have pictures from there.
ReplyDeleteGlad you enjoyed the photos, all y'all. They help me calm down when I look at them, too.
ReplyDeleteShannon, I don't know. This is in Central North Carolina, which doesn't mean the rabbit is not by Bufano. I will ask the retreat center co-directors next time I am there and will let you know. It's funny how huge the rabbit is in relation to the St. Francis statue - I think it may be a touch taller than St. F., though they are not next to each other and of course they are very different styles of sculpture. Maybe it's the Great Bunny Deity or something. ;-)
Beautiful pictures, Jane. I love the stone labyrinth. It looks like a place of peace.
ReplyDeleteOh, thanks for these.
ReplyDeleteOh.
ReplyDeleteSimply.
Beautiful.
