Get the conversation back on track

That's the title of a recent e-mail from the Obama campaign.

You can have a look at a copy of it here.

I know -- campaign e-mail. I've gotten too many of them. This one does make a good point, though, doesn't it?

Now go talk to someone. And listen. Person to person, one conversation at a time.

Note: your local campaign office can help you do this. For starters, while you're on the web, take a look at the campaign's Action Center.

  3. Saturday night I was talking with a member of my extended family about Lizzie Leigh's death, and he (he is the editor of the Panama News) wanted to collaborate on an obituary for Lizzie. He's also a very active member of Democrats Abroad Panama, so he asked me about sending someone to talk to those eligible to vote in the U.S.A. about registering to vote and requesting absentee ballots. I said, "Sure, send him over tomorrow."
So, during the announcements at the end of the English service I announced that someone was here to help register those who could vote in the U.S. I was trying to be impartial, but then I gave up and said, "Look, the Obama campaign has sent someone to help you register and request absentee ballots because this election is important!" The place erupted with cheers. The young man stood up in the back of the church and waved and the place went nuts!!! So I said, "I'm not in the States and they can't take away my tax-free status, so I'm telling you everyone who is eligible should register and request an absentee ballot and vote for Obama!" They all started hollering again. It was really something! The young man was swamped by people who wanted to register and request absentee ballots. As I was greeting folks at the door, several said, "I'm so glad to hear you're for Obama." I said, "Please! Who did you THINK I was going to vote for?"
So, I'm trying to do my part here in Panama!

  4. Excellent, naughty Padre. DP, I would love to stop by, and will do so now, but may not have a chance to comment till late in the week. I am up against several deadlines at once and woefully behind in every area of my life. Including blog-reading, of course. Ms. Franny, you rock.
