That was John Winthrop, Governor

"Governor" is not the word I spoke to the television, but I am a public person and this is a family blog. Ronald Reagan did speak of the shining city on a hill, Governor Palin, but the first one to say this, evoking biblical images, was John Winthrop, sometime around 1630. I had my little darlings read that very text this year in our History of Religion in America clas.

That's my pedantic comment for the evening.

Back to the debate.

  1. Remember, when Katie Couric asked Palin what newspapers or magazines she read, Palin stumbled a bit and finally answered, "All of them."

Someone who reads that much, you expect her to attribute every little quote? :-)
