Back to serious business. Remember who first suggested to you that the Obamas get a Portuguese water dog. Well, they are now down to two options, and guess what one of them is.
Though they may go with the labradoodle.
See here and here.
As the President said: tougher than choosing a Commerce Secretary.
I still say a clumber would be nice. Well, except for the snoring, drool, smell, and non non-allergenic properties we have... a clumber would be perfect!
ReplyDeleteI don't WANT them to get a PWD!!! It will ruin the breed, because then EVERYONE will want one--and when they find out that Porties are terrible chewers and have just about as much energy as a Dalmatian, PWDs will start showing up at shelters in droves.
ReplyDeleteI hope they pick the Doodle. Obama *did* say he wanted a mutt, and Doodles are really just fancy, very expensive mutts.
(Sorry to be grumpy about it--PWDs are wonderful dogs, but they are VERY high maintenance.)
Let's face it - almost all dogs are high maintenance.. and yes, for the sake of PWDs, it might be best if they were not selected. A friend of mine used to have Bernese Mountain Dogs (lovely animals, btw) and his association used to fire up a letter writing campaign anytime they were used in advertising or movies or any publicity event to tell the sponsor to knock it off, that Berners were not to be used this way and they they did not want the publicity! Do other breeds do that sort of "protective action"?
ReplyDeleteThat's an interesting response by the Bernese owners! I hadn't heard of breed groups doing that...
ReplyDeleteI want to meet Jasper!
ReplyDeleteYou will, you will. :-)
ReplyDeleteMeanwhile, I was at Diocesan Convention and got to see Doxy's Dear Friend. He's almost as handsome as Jasper.
He's almost as handsome as Jasper.
ReplyDelete;-)
He's definitely a better dancer, though...
