Italian humor (animated) courtesy of Brother of Acts of Hope

This one has been around the internet for a while, but I am pretty sure I have not previously posted it. If I have, my apologies. Brother of Acts of Hope, who lives in Italy most of the time (when he is not in Turkey or one or two other places), just sent this again, and it is as funny the second time around as it was the first. No language knowledge necessary. Enjoy.

  1. Remarkably silly, entirely true...

(The verification letters are "smali" which sounds like a small spicy sausage from somewhere in Tuscany.)

  2. I have one but I don't want to put it in public space. My dissertation advisor learned it from Italians while he was in Italy during WW2. The Italians told it about the Germans. It so "incorrect" that you can't begin to count the ways.

  6. Oh some time I will have to tell you of the ridiculous experiences that I have had in Italy!! That was hilarious and explains why Italy remains the one country I find daunting.

And yes- I have been to the Middle EAst!

  8. dear Jane
completely off topic- remembering our exchange last Dec 27th on Paul+'s site about the usage of 'St. Jean l'Evangile' heree in some quarters of Quebec, I thought of you when I heard an interview with Dr. Chantal Bouchard about the English translation of her latest book. 'Obsessed with Language: A Sociolinguistic History o Quebec.' Dr. Bouchard teaches here at McGill, and her book souunds like a rally interesting study of the influence of societal change on language.
