He's finally here

Bo the dog, that's who.

I know, I know.

But this was one of the first blogs to suggest a Portuguese Water Dog, so there.

Doxy weighed in a while back, worried that the breed would become too popular, and I can well understand this. Doxy's Jasper, on whom I have a big crush, is a Portie. Maybe Jasper will have something to say.

The dog arrived at the White House several days ago, but I was in one of my 16-hour work days and didn't hear about him till this morning's "Wait, Wait, Don't Tell Me."

Here's a site with some video.

  1. How sweet. What a beautiful family.

Obama walks the dog in his suit. He reminds me a little of Nixon walking the beach at San Clemente in his suit and wing tips.

    Not really. Just kidding.

  2. Well, you can already see who is the boss in that family. Cesar Milan will be horrified. ;-)

    Cheers,
    Doxy

P.S. Jasper is guest blogging for me on this subject.

  3. I just saw Jasper's post! Hadn't even read your message here yet. I linked to Jasper's post above with a reduced version of his picture.

Mimi, the Prez has to keep his suit on when he's on the job, ya know. Maybe some weekend he can wear dog clothes.

The First Lady looks tired in those pictures. +Maya says she needs a nap and why didn't they get a cat to help with that. I guess it must be because of the allergies. Doxy, do Porties nap with their humans? After they've inspected the inside of the sofa cushions?

  4. Doxy, do Porties nap with their humans? Yes, given half the chance.

Of course, they also take up 3/4s of the bed...

Walking a dog in a suit is just Wrong.

    Cheers,
    Doxy

(Word verification is "caterse." Is that how +Maya gets with you when you don't come home at the appropriate time?)

  6. Dear Ms Jane,

I just have to say that I do not believe Bo is a well behaved boy. I hope he will work on his behaviors by practicing. Most of us dogs are much nicer on our leashes and we don't pull unless there is a very compelling reason like squirrels or something interesting. I'm just saying that.

    Love,

    +Rowan

  7. Dear +Rowan,

I agree with you. I hope Mr. Bo gets some lessons. Maybe the family trainer will have seen the photos and video and will have a few things to say. I assume Mr. Bo Obama and the Presidential family have a family dog trainer.

+Maya of course is indifferent to all this training stuff, though she does know the meaning of the word "OFF!" and jumps off the kitchen counter when I say it (most of the time)and "NO!" also works sometimes. But she is not a dog so there are things she just doesn't get.

    Love,
    Jane
