This painting by Chicana political artist Yolanda Lopez caused a scandal when it came out.

I don't think La Virgen minded.

Lopez also portrayed her grandmother and her mother as forms of Guadalupe. I couldn't find good color prints of those portraits. Here are black and white versions.

What do you suppose is so scandalous: that Guadalupe is showing quite a bit of strong leg, or that she is a strong modern independent Mexican woman moving boldly to embrace her beloved?
I find the series inspiring, and wish I could the color in the other.
