What in the world am I going to say in my sermon for Good Shepherd Sunday?

I thought for a moment that I'd stumbled upon the blog of Beatrix Potter...

Cue the music from the Housemartins, It's Sheep We're Up Against... baa baa baa baba baaa

Sorry, need more coffee.

Jane, copy MadPriest's sermon, and use it. It's good, and he says you can. Or take from it an idea or two.

I'm sorry Jane - Mimi has shamed my silliness with her helpful comment - it's a darn good sermon of MadPriest's, too...

It is that! But silliness is good. Also, you of all people know about sheep. So since you are from Dorset with a background in taking care of animals, you have special privileges anytime we have references to any of those creatures in the lectionary.

Baaa. Er, meow.

Now that is weird. I had responded to Mimi, before you wrote, and my comment vanished. Okay Mimi, this is what I said: 1) Yes, it is a wonderful sermon, and thank you so much! And 2) I just (before reading your comment and then MP's sermon) came back from a walk during which I figured out much of the sermon. (Walks and showers do that for me.) So I'm headed in that direction but 3) if I get stuck I'll go to MP's words for help.

you could always say, 'fleece 'em and eat 'em!'

Mmmmmooo...

How did it go, anyway?

Went okay. Had to have a long nap after preaching at two masses and soloing in the anthem at the second one. Will write about all this, perhaps with sermon text, later today or (more likely) a bit later inthe week. Thanks for asking! And for mooing. :-)

Word verification: couship.

"couship"

Good word... perhaps the interaction between a bull and this morning's beloved?

And I get for my verification, "restiv" - which cows are sometimes, when not quite ready for said attentions...

Our parish had a guest preacher, a young priest at the Seaman's Church Institute in New York, who talked about being the shepherd to people far from home and who needed an ear or a prayer. It was lovely.
